What is the student that has never questioned his teacher about where the learned subject could be used.? Several students get lost during their time in courses that, many times, don't show a clear vision about its goals and uses.
And, what professional didn't notice the importance of that subject, even it was already late?
In a simple way, we can establish a pattern between the professor with the pure research and the professional with the applied research. It is clear that they need each other. And more important, an innovation is the result of this partnership.
Finamac keeps partnerships with the main schools that develop researches in at least one of the fields that are related to our products.
In Brazil, we keep the contact with FEA-UNICAMP, FEQ-UNICAMP, POLI-USP, FAU-USP and ITA. These are considerate great Academical institutions in Brazil. Outside our borders we are searching the firsts academic partnerships, taking advantage over our new branch in Miami USA.
The scarcity of labors in this field , guided us to invest in new courses about the software CAD 3D inside our own company, and that was the seed to the foundation of the first Computer Graphic Technical School in the country, in 2002. www.alphachannel.com.br was created and maintained by Finamac through its internal team.
Nowadays, Alpha Channel ministers more than 40 courses in 8 areas beyond the Computer Graphic.
The Casey Foundation Montenegro Son was the first with which we signed the contract in 2001 to create the first. Computer Graphic Training School in Brazil, which originated within the Finamac.
Through it, we support teachers in the Department of Computer Science of the Aeronautical Institute of Technology to prepare the teaching materials of the school.
The Foundation for Research Support of São Paulo is the first to receive our proposals for innovative equipment for which we anticipate more than 10 years of partnership. 4 projects are being considered very important that could revolutionize the market for ice cream machines.
The Funding Agency for Studies and Projects also receive our proposals as jobs are evolving, especially in times that require greater investment to launch the products on the market.
We believe that various types of foundations, particularly those linked to universities focusing on research, should be part of our evolutionary path.
Since its foundation, Finamac keeps a very serious work policy with partern companies, mainly in developing new parts and new products.
All Finamac's suppliers already had great challenges of innovation, which demanded the development of all industrial methods and new material concepts and functionalities.
Equipment for production of ice cream and chocolates do not benefit from large suppliers, from pieces companies to services, once the produced machines volume is not so big. Unlike the automobile industry, for example, which posses a very well equipped and developed web of suppliers, most of the items that make up our machines are developed with much effort on small suppliers, usually with strong characteristics to accept challenges and manufacture innovative components. This fact pushes these companies to develop unprecedented processes.
Despite of it, big partner comapnies also help us in developing innovative products. One example of that is the Copeland, a compressor maker for refrigeration from the Group Emerson, which already followed several different applications of its products in our machines. By the occasion of the Scroll compressor’s launch, considered a landmark breakthrough in commercial refrigeration, we were one of the first companies to use it in ice cream.
The equipment industry for ice cream and chocolate is considered a very specific niche within the food business. The number of companies worldwide that have some structure can be counted on the fingers. Most of them operate at around 30 or 50 employees.
For this reason, the technical background in books and found only references to the principles of operation, and the know-how, indeed, being confined within each of these small businesses.
Thoughtful rarely come from universities, where the concentration of interest turns to broader topics and not as specific as ice cream. We can say with some certainty that the current knowledge in this area is a gray area composed of a dozen engineers and technicians and a hundred of which, apparently, the news happen in a joint, as if everyone involved in the same project.
This can be confirmed at the fair (few) as these companies pour their equipment: there, years ago, a novelty that is thrown by one of them. The release of small improvements are made by more than one manufacturer, at the same time, a sign that everyone is suffering and enjoying the same evolutionary stage.
Thus, when we speak of machines for production of ice cream and chocolates, we found no research and / or publications that break an outfit in small parts and lead to an analysis of why it operates, much less containing formulations of hypotheses that should be denied or "distorted" to instigate or support the use of scientific method adopted and could serve as an example to develop new research.
We do the opposite, we start with the small parties that will compound the problem, where we find references to publications and respect, to unite in all this stuff, like the Complexity Theory by Edgar Morin, a renowned French philosopher.
Thus, researchers who get involved in our projects follow the same principle, ie each is an expert in one part of the subject, and hardly has any experience with machinery for that purpose.
At the food, we contact the schools sector and these help us in the formulation of ice cream, new compounds freezing processes etc.. On the cooling, we adapt what already exists commercially known for freezing ice cream, which involves the researcher in the field of food too.
The area of materials research partners have always required much dedication, but the main obstacle is the difficulty of obtaining specific materials in small quantities.
In other areas it is the same administration, and requires a trans-and multidisciplinary projects. As a result, our internal team absorbs a lot of knowledge of external researchers and manages it within the company, as the external research institutes, as a rule, do not conduct tests on the equipment.
