In 1954, an italian immigrant started an ice cream shop in São Paulo, Brazil. Tired in dealing with refrigeration technicians, decided to fix his own ice cream machine. Due to this, he ended up building a completely remodeled machine, from the start.
He continued with the ice cream parlor until 1974, in Santo André, São Paulo. However there was a strong outbreak of meningitis and all ice cream shops closed. Soon after he began to work as a refrigeration technician and manufacturer of small artisanal ice cream and popsicles machines. He built one or two machines per year, all in wooden frame and other simple resources.
In 1985, his son, an engineer from aeronautical industry, began studies to viabilize a small industry of ice cream machines. In 1988 he made the first 5 machines in his apartment in São Jose dos Campos, Brazil. In 1989, got permission from his father to occupy a space next to his shop to officially open "Arpifrio Industry and Commerce".
The growth was a success, starting with one employee and arriving at 70 employees five years later. Over the time, all parts manufacturing (machining etc.) was outsourced and the company focused on innovative research projects and integration of equipment.
In order to explore the Computer Aided Design technology developed inside the Company, he founded, in 2001, the first Computer Graphics Training School in Brazil, being supported by "Fundação Casimiro Montenegro Filho" and teaching materials prepared by professors from the Brazilian Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA). In 2006, the company was renamed Finamac Arpifrio, aiming to internationalize the brand and its products.
